President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that local government polls will take place on Wednesday, 27 October 2021.
This year’s local government elections will be the 6th in the democratic South Africa. As a result, citizens will be allowed to exercise their right to vote for leaders who will represent them at the local, metropolitan, and district level.

In a media statement, it was stated that “The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs will follow the necessary legal process to proclaim the date and undertake other requirements.”
Moreover, Ramaphosa pleaded to those who will be voting for the first time to ensure that they are registered to participate in the upcoming polls.
