FOOTBALL – During the weekday European competitions, players and clubs across the globe have since come together in solidarity, showing their support against the ongoing attacks on Ukraine by the Russian President.
This comes after Russia invaded parts of Ukraine, and launched missile strikes which left many buildings damaged and residents homeless.

Ukrainian international Ruslan Malinovyski of Serie A side Atalanta revealed a message written “No war in Ukraine” under his shirt after he scored a goal against Olympiacos in their Europa League encounter on Thursday night.
Slavia Prague players wore shirts that read “We stand with Ukraine” before their match with Fenerbahce, with Ukrainian defender Tara Kacharaba leading the side for the first time as captain. Napoli and Barcelona also showed their support before kick-off when the players stood together behind a banner with the message “STOP WAR”.

Meanwhile, German outfits FC Shalke 04 announced the removal of the logo of their main sponsor, Gazprom, from their shirt due to the ongoing attacks on Ukraine by Russia.

It did not end there, the UEFA Champions League also announced that the final of the prestigious competition which was set to be hosted in Saint-Petersburg, will be held in Paris.

Manchester City’s and Ukrainian full-back, Oleksandr Zinchenko, was part of a Virgil which was held last night in a centre of Manchester, where people gathered around to protest against the current situation happening.

Brazilian players from Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv released a short video gathered in a hotel with their families, appealed for intervention, seeking refuge.
Russia has since received global sanctions for its actions against its neighboring country, which will likely affect the future of their economy.
