Burkina Faso will be in action as they will be taking on Senegal in the first semi-final of the Total Energies Africa Cup of Nations, at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde on Wednesday night.
Ahead of the encounter, both teams have never won the tournament, despite having finished as runners-up previously.
Senegal topped their Group B ahead of Guinea, Malawi, Zimbabwe respectively, apart from only scoring one goal – But gained momentum throughout, having eased past Cape Verde beating them 2-0 in the round of 16, and winning 3-1 against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday night.
Their opponents, Burkina Faso, finished second in Group A behind the hosts, Cameroon. The Stallions saw off Gabon in the round of 16 on penalties, and produced a narrow win against Tunisia in the quarterfinals, winning 1-0, thanks to a first-half goal from Dango Ouattara, who is set to miss the encounter after receiving a red card.
Senegal and Burkina Faso have met 12 times across all competitions, with the Lions of Teranga holding a slight upper hand, having won three times and drawn seven games, leaving their opponents with a score to settle, having produced only two wins against their opposition.
The game is set to kick-off at 9pm CAT.
