Cape Town City beat Swallows FC 4-0 in the MTN 8 semi-final second-leg on Wednesday evening to secure a spot in the final.
Both teams were looking to get a result following a goalless draw in their first leg encounter.
Swallows started off on the front foot two-minutes into the game, when Zephaniah Mbokoma headed a cross from Vuyo Mere wide of the post.
Three minutes before half-time,City registered from a well worked volley from Surprise Ralani, who controlled a beautiful cross from Terrence Mashego, leaving Virgil Vries with no chance.
Going into the second-half, both teams introduced fresh legs, the Citizen bringing on Thabo Nodada while the Dube birds brought on duo Mwape Musondo and Strydom Wambi.
Musonda nearly got an equalizer for the home side in the 52nd minute, which saw him rounding goalkeeper Hugo Marques to only strike the post.
City capitalized on the missed opportunity six minutes later and scored their second goal of the evening through a wonderful chip from Fagrie Lakay after he ran into space. Lakay could have gotten his second goal of the evening, but failed to hit the target when he dragged his shot wide after running past Tebogo Langerman.
Swallows troubles continued following a well worked counter-attack when Ralani netted his brace through a cross from Nodada, to put City ahead by three goals to nil.
Towards the end of the second stanza, the Citizens kept on knocking on the door, until Edmilson Dove added the fourth goal from a corner, to seal the victory and book a spot in the final of the MTN 8 where they will take on Mamelodi Sundowns.
