Banyana Banyana beat Nigeria 4-2 in a six-goal thriller to win the Aisha Buhari cup final on Tuesday.
South Africa got into the front foot in the early hours of the game courtesy of an own goal by Alozie Chidi.
Things got worse for the home side, as the visitors were awarded a spot kick after Ebi Onome handled the ball inside the box, which Linda Motlhalo made no mistake and put the ball in the back of the net.
Banyana went on to get the third goal three minutes before the break thanks to a goal by Gabriel Salgado’s.
The Super Falcons pulled one back shortly after halftime through Vivian Ikechukwu. The striker bagged her brace on the 53rd minute, reducing the goal deficit to one.
Nigera pushed for an equalizer, but Banyana were too strong for them as they netted their fourth goal through yet another penalty, this time converted by Mamello Makhabane to secure the win.
