CAPE TOWN – Cape Town City have confirmed the signing of Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Darren Keet on a free transfer.
The 31-year-old joins the Citizens from Cape Umoya United, who play in the GladAfrica Championship.
Keet, who also played for Bidvest Wits and various international clubs, arrives at City hoping to fill the void left by Peter Leeuwenburgh.
The Dutch goalkeeper grabbed the chance to return to his homeland as he joined FC Groningen.
Meanwhile, Keet is expected to be City’s newest number 1 shot-stopper as they build a stronger squad under Eric Tinkler’s guidance.
“Looking at my prospects, Cape Town was a good place to start, and obviously, the opportunity arose,” Keet said.
“I want to a part of something big; I want to part of something extra special.

“Since I was young, one of the few things I’ve wanted to achieve was to be the best goalkeeper in South Africa.
“I’ve won all the trophies, I’ve had the experience of winning the PSL before, I definitely want more. I’m not coming here to settle for anything less.”
