There is still no arrest made on the Capitec robbery in Key West mall. The robbery was confirmed by the centre’s manager after releasing a press statement with Krugersdorp news on 11th April 2022 Monday afternoon.
The centre manager disclosed that the target area was the Capitec branch only and a large amount of money was taken, and the amount is still not disclosed yet. The Armed robbers made their move at entrance 3 of the mall and captured the G4s cash-in-transit vehicle where it was robbed.
‘It is reported that two security guards had just alighted from the cash truck and were walking towards the ATM when they were accosted by four men, three of them armed with pistols.’
The perpetrators fired three-gun shots, and no one was harmed nor reported injured at the scene. The centre’s security team will still be always vigilant and the safety of all shoppers remains to be the centre’s top priority manager added.
The matter has been handed over to the police for further investigation. The is still not much known by the police on the identity of the robbers but it is confirmed by police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Robbert Netshiunda that the four suspects were wanted for robbing an undisclosed amount of money during the cross-pavement cash in transit (CIT) robbery at the Key West mall.

The report also states that the two security guards were robbed of their guns after they were ambushed by the robbers while they were walking toward the ATM. The criminals were seen escaping the scene on a grey Mercedes Benz registration number WLF670GP.
The police are asking for assistance in capturing the thugs. They plead that if anyone who has any lead regarding the criminal’s car to contact the crime stop police immediately on 086 00 10111 or use the My SAPS app to report them. the person can also visit their nearest police station to give out information in order to stop the criminals.
