EEF leaders in Mpumalanga are thankful to the police for the arrest of a farmer in Mpumalanga. The farmer was arrested after being accused of running over three black children with his car.
The farmer, Louis Johannes Grobler, who is 41 years of age was arrested for running over children at Smith Fields farm in Lothair outside Ermelo. Reports say Grobler allegedly ran over three children, ages ten, eleven, and thirteen, he also assaulted the thirteen-year-old after accusing the children of theft.
Suspect Louis Johannes Grobler run the children over, without being provoked, after seeing them on their way back from playing with other children on the Smith Fields Farm.
The children sustained serious injuries during the incident which took place around 2 pm. They were hospitalized and the incident was reported to the police, after an investigation had been done, the man was arrested.
Provincial Chairperson Collen Sedibe stated that the EFF in Mpumalanga was outraged by the actions of the farmer and applauds the police for arresting the farmer in question quickly and without any problems.
“Furthermore, the EFF in Mpumalanga will plan and embark on campaigns aimed at bringing together all people who work and live on farms and those who have been affected by heart-breaking stories of abuse on farms, illegal evictions and killings that have taken place in the farming area”. Said Sedibe.
When the suspect appeared in court, Mpumalanga community safety, security and liaison MEC, Vusi Shongwe , pleaded with the witnesses to help the police with any information that can help with the case.
