JOHANNESBURG – The African National Congress is of the view that the Political Party Funding Act (PPFA) has hamstrung their ability to pay staff salaries. Meanwhile, staffers at Luthuli House have downed tools over unpaid salaries.
ANC staff representative committee member, Mandla Qwane spoke to eNCA, he said the situation and gone worse now.
Qwane said their salaries are not paid anymore, no provident fund and medical aids at times are not paid.
Cosatu has told the ANC to stop blaming the Political Party Funding Act for its failure to pay staff. The federation of trade unions said this in its input to the ANC NEC Lekgotla.
ANC salary crisis scandalous, said analyst.
“It says the non-payment of salaries for staff has been happening way before the Act was passed.”
Cosatu says the ANC is treating its employees like cheap labour, while its deployees in government are receiving comfortable salaries.
