eThekwini | ActionSA KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Chairperson and eThekwini Mayoral Candidate, Dr Makhosi Khoza, visited the people of Kennedy Road Informal Settlement and delivered mobile toilets to this community that has continuously been stripped of its human dignity for years by the current ruling party in eThekwini.
The ruling ANC in eThekwini has refused to provide proper ablution and sanitation facilities to this community – as they have equally done to many other communities around the city.

“This past weekend, the community was ablaze from 5 am on Saturday; it took firefighters hours to contain the flames. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this point. The devastation displaced approximately 200 hundred families, who thus far, have received no disaster management relief from the City’s disaster management.
“No temporary shelter had been arranged for the affected families, who have lost all of their belongings. As per the norm, the downtrodden and destitute are not a priority for the ANC government,” Khoza said.
ActionSA said through the efforts of their ward 25 councillor candidate, Vusi Xulu, they have organised food parcels to provide families with relief and other amenities for the community.
“Ideally, the housing crisis should have long been addressed by the ruling party, and it is through their corruption that residents of eThekwini end up seeking refuge in landfills such as Kennedy Road,” party said.
ActionSA is committed to serving the people of eThekwini and ensuring that adequate housing is provided to residents.
“When a person is a public servant, their place in on the ground with the people; tending to their needs and building a better society. A true leader must always be attainable, the people she leads. It is disappointing that the City has failed to come on the ground and address the needs of the people,” ActionSA said.
