The National Education, Health and Allied Workers’ Union (NEHAWU) a trade union in South Africa. Threatens to withdraw its support to ANC come local government elections.
This union has a membership of 235,000 and, it is the largest public sector union in the country.

It organises State, Health, Education and Welfare workers. The ANC-led government has reneged on its three-year public service wage agreement.
The union is threatening to withdraw its support from the party in upcoming local government elections, because ANC failed to implement its resolution.
Trio-union will be discussed at the union’s KwaZulu-Natal provincial congress this week.
Nehawu KZN secretary Ayanda Blessing Zulu said, “one of the issues that will be discussed by the congress, will be the state of the alliance.”

Their recent central executive committee took a decision noting that the ANC-led government failed to implement resolution one of 2018.
Nehawu is also concerned about the state of health in South Africa, together with health workers. These calls came due to pressure of COVID-19 that exposed in capabilities of government to handle emergency matters.
