A Gauteng teacher was dismissed for assaulting a Grade R pupil at Nchuncheko Primary School in Soshanguve, Tshwane.
This comes after a video emerged on social media last week, where she was seen administering physical punishment to the learner. According to the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE), the educator was served with the outcome of a disciplinary hearing on Monday, 24 May 2020.
Consequently, the she was found guilty and released with immediate effect. In a media statement, the department further reported that “We can confirm that the disciplinary process which was instituted upon finding out about the video took place on Monday, 24 May 2021 and has been concluded with the verdict being the immediate dismissal of the Grade R practitioner.”
