The taxi strike taking place in Cape Town has left commuters stranded, this follows after they were intimidated and stopped from traveling using taxis to their destinations.

Several taxis and three golden arrows buses were vandalized when people turned to buses as an alternative to getting to work.
The strike was set to be a peaceful strike as the taxi drivers and owners were expected to submit their memorandum to demand to the office of the premier, but the strike has destroyed traffic and property damages.
One driver who was found operating at the time got his car vandalized and his commuters were told to step out of the vehicle because it’s not supposed to be working.

Bronwen Dyker-Beyer from golden arrow bus services confirmed that passengers were injured and only four were confirmed to be taken to hospital and the damages to the bus may have been caused by the taxi strike.
‘’We do not think we will be suspending our buses on the road but we are using alternative routes to run our buses,” Beyer said during her interview with Enca
Taxi drivers want the premier and minister of transport to hear their grievances such as the high fines to release impounded taxi vehicles and they seek permits to operate in other places such as Langa and they are fined for operating in the area.
CATA and CODESA have assured that after the strike and submission of the memorandum, taxis will go back to operating and commuters will be allowed to travel without fear.
Disturbing images were taken during the altercation that reveals a woman being forced to leave the area by an unidentified man suspected to be a male taxi driver or owner.
ommuters are concerned that they may not be able to get to work for the remainder of the week, and those who managed to get to work are scared if they will be able to go back home safely.
Law enforcement was placed in several spots in Khayelitsha and the N2 to ensure that there is order in those particular areas.
