JOHANNESBURG | Western Cape Judge President, John Hlophe, has accepted a nomination for the position of Chief Justice.
This is despite his suspension and possible impeachment.
In 2008, two Constitutional Court judges exposed how Hlophe approached them to influence a case involving former President Jacob Zuma and French arms dealer Thales.
The Judicial Services Commission was expected to meet to decide whether they will recommend his suspension to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Panel chosen by the President is expected to shorlist candidates to head of State for appointment of Chief Justice.
