Pugnacious conversation between former DA member, Phumzile Van Damme and Insight Factor Co-founder, Thabo Makwakwa over sophisticated tech-driven project to combat disinformation.
It appears that a former DA member, failed to reply to a question posted to her, about who funded this project. Makwakwa appears to be curious about the source of funds of this project.

“So excited, South Africa! I cannot wait to launch our disinformation monitoring project. A sophisticated, tech-driven, multi-faceted project with the most knowledgeable & experienced in the sector. We’ve been hard at work building a well-oiled machine. Almost there.

“The project will focus on not just monitoring & combatting misinfo but also how & why it spreads & finding solutions to mitigate its spread. The first of its kind. Thrilled & so grateful to all the amazing people who have come on board to share the time, skills, tools & efforts.
“There are so many politicians, parties, organisations & individuals that have freely spread harmful disinformation that has put lives at risk, exploited racial divisions Bell P-style & mobilised on hatred. The day of reckoning awaits. We have watched & studied your MO carefully,” Van Damme tweeted.
“Who are your funders, Phumzile?,” Makwakwa asked about the funding of the project.
In responding to question, she said: “Uyihlo. This response is based on your previous hateful tweet and well-earned”.
Insight Factor Co-founder, insisted that many black leaders from DA, once they are chopped out, they start organisations and they hardly struggle to be funded by white people.
“Can’t help but notice how the former black DA leaders leave the party, form some organisations and never struggle to get funding from white males. Whose interest are you advancing, and how do we ensure your disinformation project is not a disinformation propaganda machine?,” said Makwakwa.
Van Damme said Makwakwa is heartless because he wants to avoid seeing blacks succeeding in their projects.
“Damn. Une nhlitiyo limbhi yati. Aw’funi kubona omunye umuntu om’nyama aphumelela. Ubani othe “white males?” Stay hating man. Heal,” she said.
“Kahle Van Damme, yeka ikarati I’m not your former boss. If anything, I pray for you and every other black people to flourish, but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t probe because hey, kubi, some of you may be oiled-machinery projects weaponized against your own. Plz drink some water,” he said.
