
JOHANNESBURG – Police minister Bheki Cele is left with few hours to arrest former president, Jacob Zuma. He is pressured to execute the Constitutional Court order.
Zuma filed two urgent applications following the ConcCourt judgement. The Pietermaritzburg high court heard the application for stay arrest pending outcomes for ConCourt rescission.

Cele said he will execute court order, should the ConCourt fails to clarify the directives due to cases pending outcomes.
Adv SC Dali Mpofu said that if PMB high court fails to interdict arrest order, it may lead to Marikana crisis. This comes as supporters of the former president are certain that no one will arrest him.
“We will then have to come midnight, we will have to comply with the ConCourt judgement. So as things stand we are still waiting, and we do have hours really and a lot can happen,” said Cele’s spokesperson.
The minister is quite confident that the police commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal as well as his team even at national level are very capable of handling the situation that will and may arise.

Zuma’s legal team maintained that detention without trial is unlawful and unconstitutional, and it will cause crisis as per their argument before court of law. However, Zulu nation is determined to defend him with ANC eThekweni region has shown much support to the former president.

The presence of Amabutho, also illustrated the concern of this court order. Zuma indicated on Sunday that he will only go to jail in a lawful and constitutional process.
