The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Mpumalanga Major General Thulani Phahla, has commended the sterling work done police officers in the different districts within the province, where operations yielded positive results.
These mandatory police operations conducted between Monday, 19 April and Sunday, 25 April 2021 saw a total of 655 suspects being arrested and charged for different offenses such as murder, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault, kidnapping, drunk driving, attempted murder and rape amongst others.

Some suspects have appeared in court, while others are expected to appear today in various Courthouses in the province.
Major General Phahla has welcomed the arrest of the suspects and lauded the efforts of the members. “The work done by the members over the past week is appreciated, more so as we forge ahead in our quest to combat crime.

“I also thank them for enforcing the law and ensuring that communities feel safe and protected”, said General Phahla.
