The South African Police Service in Mokwakwaila outside Tzaneen in Limpopo are looking for suspects for a murder of a mother and her daughter aged 30 and 7 years respectively on Thursday.
The bodies of Mapheto Caroline Rathupetjane and her daughter, Thapelo Selina Rathupetjane were discovered wrapped in a plastic in the bushes in Ga-Femane village.
The provincial police Spokespersom Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe said “The two women, allegedly went missing on the 25 January 2021. They left home… Matipane village at about 18h30 without informing anyone in the family about their destination.”
However, on the 02 February 2021, the missing person case was reported to the Police and the search operation was immediately activated and conducted without success until the gruesome discovery of the deceased by a passersby.
The Police were called to the crime scene and on arrival, they found the bodies of the deceased in a state of decomposition, wrapped in a plastic and their hands were tied with a rope.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Samuel Manala has ordered for the implementation of the 72 hour activation plan on the arrest of the suspects involved in this incident.
