Former Expresso presenter Katlego Maboe has filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife Monique Muller and certain individuals for allegedly tarnishing his reputation and career. This comes after a video went viral in October 2020, revealing that Maboe had cheated on his former wife and had infected her with an STD. Consequently, the TV personality was immediately dismissed from the majority of his television roles.

It was reported that the 34-year-old has taken legal action against Muller and other few individuals who he claims were hell-bent on tarnishing his reputation. As a result, Maboe is purportedly seeking a total of R4 million in damages from the individuals for alleging defamation of character and career loss.
According to reports, a letter of demand dated September 2, was sent to Muller and her brother Seth, who was reported to have made claims that the TV star was an abusive partner. Furthermore, the letter was also sent to Sabrina Walters, who is the founder of Women for Change, as well as Dr. Janet van Eeden, chairperson of the judges for the National Film and Video Foundation’s (NFVF) South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas), demanding them to compensate him for career damage and psychological harm.
The letter read: “If they don’t pay the R4 million, he will start official damage claims against them. He is claiming loss of income, psychological damage, and damage to his reputation”. The individuals were given three weeks to respond to the letter of demand issued by Maboe and his legal team.
