According to a source close to the family, the now late Citi lyts, real name Sandile Mkhize was confronted by a group of men before allegedly being shot eight times in the stomach.
Police have since launched a manhunt for those responsible for the killing of the popular musician.
“After a musician was shot dead in Dube, Soweto, in the early hours of Monday, February 14. Police were called to a murder scene in Dube at about 2 am and on arrival they found a 32-year-old man lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to the upper body.
“He was certified dead by paramedics.
It is reported that the deceased was on the street with his friends when they were shot at by suspects driving a silver VW Polo”.
The motive for his killing is still unknown.
The artist was widely appreciated in the industry, having worked with several artists such as Emtee, Fifi Cooper, and Sjava whom he created the hit single ‘Vura’ which earned them a Song of the year nomination at the SA Hip Hop Awards as well as a Best Hit Single at the Metro FM awards back in 2016.
Tributes have been pouring in for Citi Lyts since the confirmation of his passing in the early hours of this morning.
