Twitter was set ablaze in a heated debate about the interview between Mac G and Ari Lennox. Mac G has come out in apology to American singer, Ari Lennox.
In an interview with the songstress, Mac G posed a question, basically enquiring about who she is sleeping with
“…and where are we at right now, is someone f*#king good right now?”
To which Ari responded saying it was a wild question opposing the manner by which it was brought up.
“That’s a wild question, why ask it that way whoa”, she said.
This particular part of the 28 minute plus interview stirred up mixed reactions, with some people feeling that it was disrespectful and insensitive and others commending Mac G on a job well done.
Ari went on to speak out on the matter saying that she felt ambushed, ultimately resulting in a controversial debate on social media.
“Just because I happily and freely sing/write about sex, don’t make any kind of creepy disrespect warranted. I clearly was in immense shock and hate that I didn’t react differently” Ari Lennox disclosed.
American twitter’ came to Ari Lennox’ defense while ‘SA twitter seemed to be torn between those who felt that the interview lacked professionalism, and others feeling that is was fair and justified for Mac G to question his guest as he did.
Mac G has since appeared in an interview with Van Lathan and Rachel Lindsay. When asked about the matter with Lennox, he stated – “Look man, I’d like to say to her, I wanna sincerely apologize for that question and how it made her feel and the aftermath of everything like that, everything that came after that interview dropped”
Ari had continued to state that she will not ever visit South Africa, this was motivated by the hostility she received in the comment section on Twitter regarding the matter. She was met with even more backlash from Mac G supporters, basically saying that they don’t care
Mac G has also been on the receiving end of a lot of hate and criticism, with media personality and podcaster Joe Budden weighing in and referring to him as a ‘shock jock’.
