Katlego Maboe made an unexpected comeback and its all thanks to the South African Film and Television Awards.
The nominees for the prestigious awards were revealed recently and what caught most people’s attention was television presenter Katlego Maboe being included after he was counted out because of his cheating scandal in 2020 that was all over the media.
The television presenter is nominated in the Best Television Presenter category alongside Afternoon Express’s Palesa Tembe, Dineo Ranaka from Yimlo, Hectic on 3’s Enhle Bizane, Devi Sankaree Govender from The Devi Show, Come Again’s Katchie Nzana and KN Verslag in gesprek’s Waldimar Pelser.
Katlego Maboe made it to the Headlines after a video of his wife accusing him of cheating and giving her an STD went viral. A lot of people were surprised as the star has always had a clean image in the eyes of the public. In the video, Katlego admitted to cheating with a woman he worked with.
Following the video, the television presenter lost out his endorsement and sponsorships. He was even relieved from his duties on SABC3’s Expresso as a presenter.
Maboe did admit to being unfaithful but denied ever being abusive to his partner. He made it clear that he is putting his child’s interests first and asked to deal with this matter privately. This statement was shared on Instagram on the 23rd of October 2020.
A petition from Maboe’s fans followed of which they wanted the presenter to be brought back on their screens. The goal of the petition was to reach 75 000 signatures.
