Brazilian football legend Pele has been hospitalised again in Sao Paulo for his Colon cancer treatment since Monday.
Pele returned to the hospital after he was diagnosed with colon cancer last September.
According to his family, the 81-year-old is expected to undergo check-ups at least once a month to continue chemotherapy against the tumour.
In a statement released by the Albert Einstein Hospital on Tuesday, the condition of Edson Arantes do Nascimento is “good and stable, and should be discharged from the hospital in the next few days.”
The Brazilian has been in and out of hospital after he was previously hospitalized in 2014 due to a urinary tract infection for an injury sustained during his playing days. He was then admitted in 2019 to have a kidney stone removed.
He is considered to be one of the greatest of all time to grace the football pitch, being the only player in history to win the World Cup three times (1958, 1962, and 1970).
