Following a 4-0 thrashing at Anfield, Manchester United interim manager, Ralf Rangnick, has warned that the club will need up to 10 players in the rebuild of the club.
United suffered yet another humiliating defeat to Liverpool, this time at a fully packed Anfield on Tuesday night.
The Reds did not waste time in showing their class when they exposed the United defense and registered their first goal five minutes into the game through the January signing, Luis Diaz.
Mohamed Salah had his brace, while in-form Sadio Mane had his say in the thrashing of their rivals, to move top points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Rangnick addressed the media and admitted that the club needs to have two crucial transfer windows if they are to compete with Liverpool and the rest.
“It’s embarrassing, maybe even humiliating, we have to accept Liverpool are six years ahead of us now,” Rangnick said.
“When Jurgen Klopp came they changed at the club and lifted not just the team but the club and city to a new level. That is what needs to happen with us in the next transfer windows.”
The German mentor emphasized that the club need to reinforce almost every position, predicting that up to 10 players are required in the process of rebuilding the club.

“There will be a rebuild for sure, if you analyze the situation it is not difficult to analyze. For me, it is clear there will be six, seven, eight, maybe ten new players. Before you sign those players, you need to be aware of how you play.”
United is said to have agreed to personal terms with Erik ten Hag, with the announcement of the Dutchman imminent.
Ten Hag is expected to sign a three or four-year contract, that will see him reunite with the on-loan midfielder, Donny van de Beek.
