Rhythm City actor, Mncedisi Shabangu passes away

Shabangu, who won a SAFTA for his portrayal of Khulekani Ngobese in Rhythm City, passed away on July 24 at the age of 53.

Mncedisi Shabangu, a South African actor, dramatist, and theater director best known for playing Khulekani Ngobese in the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City, has died.

Shabangu, who won a SAFTA for his portrayal of Khulekani Ngobese in Rhythm City, passed away on July 24 at the age of 53.

According to a statement from the family, the actor passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning,His cause of death is still unknown as the family has not shared more details.

“It is with great sadness that the Shabangu family informs you of the sudden passing of Mncedisi Baldwin Shabangu. He passed on in the early hours of Sunday morning.”

“The family appreciates all messages of condolences and requests privacy at this difficult time.”  “Memorial and funeral arrangements will be announced soon.”

Shabangu also played roles in The Lab, iNumber Number before receiving a SAFTA for his popular villainous role as Khulekani in Rhythm City.

South African celebs have taken to the timeline to react to his untimely passing.

Skeem Saam actor Cornet Mamabolo tweeted, “No ways.” 😢😢

Generations: The Legacy actress Candice Modiselle, tweeted, “Absolutely gutted. Watching him in Woza Albert cemented my entire acting trajectory. So grateful I had the opportunity to thank him. May he rest peacefully.”

Media personality Thembisa Nxumalo said: “We can never forget Ta Mnce’s performance in Tshepang and Sizwe Banzi is Dead. A masterclass. His biggest performance was how he loves and nurtured the arts, and all of us in it. He made the time. He was a good, good person, and friend. Silahlekelwe.”

Hamilton Dlamini, a star of DiepCity, expressed his sadness at his friend’s passing, they both performed in theatrical productions.

Dlamini said “He was supposed to start shooting Uzalo on Monday and also we were supposed to have a European Tour of The Head and The Load by William Kentridge in Novem
