e.TV has officially pulled the primetime series Durben Gen. The series will end in January 2023 just over two years after airing on the channel.
In a statement, eMedia confirmed that the drama will be coming to an end in January 2023. The statement further stated that the decision to end the early primetime series was part of a business strategy.

“e.tv can confirm that the hospital drama Durban Gen will be coming to an end in January 2023. The decision to decommission the daily drama is part of a business strategy which includes the ongoing review of the on-air-life-cycle of all our shows.
e.tv continues to look forward to fulfilling its mandate of producing exceptional and relevant local content, and the production has successfully achieved its part of the obligation throughout the past 2 years.”
The series is produced by the company-Stained Glass TV, which also produced Uzalo that airs on SABC1 as well as The Wife which airs on Showmax.
Durben Gen is filemd in Durban and was launched by e.tv in October of 2020.
It is set in the township of Newlands East and the corridors of the Durban General academic hospital. The series has lured e.tv a viewership of 2.75 million people during April, making it the channel’s fourth most-watched series.
