The defense lawyer in the Senzo Meyiwa trial says that it was singer and reality star Kelly Khumalo who mistakenly shot her lover and football star Senzo Meyiwa.
He further stated that he would bring an eyewitness who would testify how exactly Khumalo pulled the trigger of the revolver that ultimately killed Meyiwa.
Teffo who cross-examined state witness Sergeant Thabo Mosia is representing other accused men and standing trial for Meyiwa’s murder which happened in 2014 at Khumalo’s house.
He said that a meeting was held with the people who were in the house, the police and community safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi Malobane. He further stated that the meeting was to conceal facts about Senzo’s killing.
“The meeting was all about how to conceal or how to hatch a plan of avoiding to say how Senzo was killed,” he said.
Khumalo has since received a massive amount of backlash, with many saying that she should be cancelled until answers about Meyiwa’s killing were found.
She has spoken out in a radio interview, saying that the public’s frustration is due to the delay in the trial of her former lover and father of her child, which is something that many are familiar with as many cases have previously been left unprosecuted.
“When the time is right, and when God allows, then they will hear my voice. So, whatever noise they are making has absolutely nothing to do with me,” the hitmaker said.
“Whatever personal feeling they have towards me, I feel like its a projection because this is not the only case that has been a failure when it comes to the South African justice system”.
“We have a problem when it comes to the South African justice system, but for some reason, because there is Kelly Khumalo involved, we want to make it something that is peculiar, something that is different, something that has never happened’.
