Twitter celebrity and Smeg enthusiast, otherwise known as ‘Mr Smeg’ has partnered with automobile company Mercedes Benz in an advertisement.
It all started when Tweleb Michael ‘Mr. Smeg’ Bucwa took a chance by shooting his shot at actress and Media personality, Pearl Thusi.
“Hi @PearlThusi, May I take you out for lunch?”
This led to a National Date which was broadcast for all to see. Not only that, but local establishments such as KONKA and Daruma ( a Waterfall based restaurant owned by legendary DJ, Oskido) as well as brands like Tshepo Jeans, Era by DJ Zinhle, Drip and Billiato alcohol, showed their support inspired by the theme – ‘Black Excellence’
The date seemed to go well despite that awkward kiss between Oskido and the Queen Sono actress, which also set Twitter ablaze. Mr. Smeg went on to ask Pearl to be his Valentine to which she accepted.
Leading up to the National Date, Mr. Smeg reached out to several brands, one of which happened to be BMW which seemed ideal seeing that he owns one himself, however they were unresponsive.
“Hey @ BMW_ SA, May you Please Hook me up with the latest X3 facelift. I want to use it for my lunch date with Pearl Thusi”, wrote Michael.
The automobile company failed to acknowledge his request, which some twitter users did not let slide saying that BMW missed out on a golden opportunity.

Mr Smeg has since taken to twitter to announce that he would be starring in one of Mercedes Benz’ new adverts
“I can’t believe that I am gonna be the main Star kwi advert ka Mercedes Benz Sandton”, he posted.

Tweeps wasted no time in congratulating him while humorously suggesting that he change his popular handle from ‘Mr. Smeg’ to ‘Mr. Merc’.
