JOHANNESBURG – The beauty queen blogger and lawyer Cheslie Kryst took her life in her New York apartment on Sunday morning, 30 January, she was pronounced dead at the scene by the NYPD this according to E! News
The Miss Universe and USA organisations released a statement and confirmed the tragic news of the beauty queen. “We are devastated to learn about the loss of Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst. She was one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people we have ever had the privilege of knowing. Our entire community mourns her loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with her family right now,” the statement read.
Former Miss Universe Zozibini Ntuzi took to social media to share her tribute at the sudden passing of her friend, the two became close when they shared the Miss Universe stage together and later became roommates at their New York apartment during Zozi’s reign as Miss Universe 2019.
Zozi wrote: “Cheslie my friend, I am divested. I didn’t sleep a wink, caught in between not believing the news and trying to make sense of what is happening. You were supposed to send me photos of the outfit you were going to wear to a wedding this past Saturday and all the details that happened at the event. You took me by surprise Queen. I am not ready for a world you don’t exist in.
“I hope you are resting easy now love. You meant everything to so many people and forever will. You made a mark in this World and touched so many lives. We celebrate your life. I love you so, so much my forever friend and forever Miss USA. RIP beautiful,” she wrote.
South Africans were saddened for Ntunzi as they shared a beautiful friendship together and sent her condolences on Twitter which read:
@SelfieRunnerZA I’m so devasted to wake up to the news of Cheslie Kryst’s untimely passing. As soon AS I read the news , all I could think about was how Zozibini Tunzi is taking this, especially since she was so kind to Zozi when she was in the US, and they formed a great friendship. RIP Cheslie.”
Just a few hours before her passing, Cheslie posted a photo of herself on Instagram with the caption “May this day bring you rest and peace.”
