The passing of the late Zulu king’s sister, Princess Thembi Zulu Ndlovu, was confirmed on the 8th of April 2022 at Newcastle.  Her death was described as a monumental proportion that has cut deep into the people of KwaZulu-Natal.

Late King Goodwill Zwelithini’s sister Princess Thembi Ndlovu’s death was confirmed by the Premier of the province, Sihle Zikalala, who stated in a statement that the Princess was in and out of the hospital due to health-related issues:

“Thembi has recently been in and out of hospital owing to ill-health, however, we have remained hopeful that her royal highness would, in the end, emerge from this bout to take her place as one of the most senior royals if the ZULU nation,” Zikalala said.

The death of the princess was another tragedy as the people of KZN were still coming to terms with losing their king Zwelithini, queen mother Mantfombi Dlamini Zulu, and now her funeral in the difficult times for the Zulu nation.

Princess Ndlovu was an aunt of the king Misuzulu kaZwelithini and was mostly known for giving simultaneous news conferences on royal topics.  The late princess and her brother prince Mbonisi Zulu were the ones opposing the election of prince Misuzulu KaZwelithinias the new king of the royal family.

It has been 7 days since the death of royal highness and the family has confirmed that Ndlovu will be laid to rest today at KwaZulu natal. There are still no answers on how the funeral service will commence, as the province is facing a national disaster because of the flooding.

Prince Mbonisi Zulu has since sent the royal family condolences to the families that lost their loved ones, adding that the funeral of the late princess will be another sad day.

“We lost a member of such a big family, one must be strong to overcome the loss of a great sister, mother, and great princess who work very hard with the late king as well. Tomorrow she will be laid to rest and her death has affected a lot of people. And it will be sad when we take her to her last day of lay. It is of course devastating. What is important as well is that God gave us a wonder-full sister.” Zulu said.

The Prince emphasized that her death did not only affect the royal family and Zulu nation but the entire nation.

Condolences have been pouring into the family.

Deep divides among a number of Cosatu affiliates, the largest trade union federation in the nation, raise the possibility that a contentious race for leadership positions may break out when the group conducts its elective conference next month. Large affiliates of the federation, particularly those in the public sector, are allegedly beset by factionalism that hinders efforts to bring them together in support of those who will run the organization after September. READ ALSO:One person dies in Kagiso protest The leadership succession is traditionally managed via the federation's central executive committee and public sector union organizations like the joint mandatory committee (JMC) to avoid ugly battles that could destabilize the organization. Zingiswa Losi, the president of Cosatu, may seem to be in a strong position to maintain her job, but it has recently come to light that she is facing opposition. Additionally, it has come to light that Bheki Ntshalintshali, the federation's general secretary, was the target of a significant lobbying effort. If that were to occur, he would become the only Cosatu boss since the federation's founding in 1985 to be dismissed after completing one term.
